Film
Filmed on location at Kenwood (English Heritage), Petworth House and Park (National Trust) and Hampton Court Palace (Historic Royal Palaces), Permissible Beauty will be shared through a mix of onsite screenings, online platforms, film festivals and events beginning in late 2022.
For the film and installation McAlmont has written and performs a series of narrations blending historical research and interviews with contemporary figures – that explore ideas of beauty past and present, raise questions about the relationship between heritage and belonging and celebrate a new expanded chapter of British beauty for the 21st century.
An atmospheric soundtrack has been created by Afrodeutsche, the British-born Ghanaian-Russian-German composer, producer, DJ and broadcaster (BBC 6Music).
